Happy St. Nicholas Day // By the way...Did you know πŸŽ… got into Street Fights? Read on...
---
Saint Nicholas Day, or the Feast of Saint Nicholas, observed on December 5-6.
One of our favorite family traditions involves Saint Nicholas Day. Each Dec 5, kids leave their shoes out overnight for St. Nicholas can fill them with special fruits, candies, and other small gifts & treats.
The tradition of gift giving is said to derive from a story of St. Nicholas secretly throwing bags of money through a window, into the home of an impoverished family, to rescue their daughters from being sold into slavery. This is also the inspiration for our modern day Santa Claus.πŸŽ…

Who was Santa Claus / Father Christmas in reality?
Until recently, I didn’t know anything about St. Nicholas...except Santa Claus is his strange holiday descendant..of sorts.
---
St. Nicholas was nothing like his jolly, rosy-cheeked, red-suited, cookie-snarfing counterpart. St Nick was courageous and compassionate. He was a fighter for the truth β€” literally. From examinations of this holy bishop’s relics, it’s clear that good ole St. Nick sported a broken nose. πŸ’ͺ
Some legends even claim he grew up as a street fighter. We do know he was kicked out of the Council for punching the infamous heretic, Arias, in the face. 😱
Arias was twisting religious teachings for his own ends. Apparently, St. Nicholas could not listen to another word.
I can’t help but love St. Nicholas for his passion for truth.πŸ”₯
